Kia Niro Coding of An Additional Spare Key Fob

In this job the customer had only one working key fob and wanted to program an additional one as a spare key. This is a great idea because coding a key fob for Kia Niro, when you already have an existing working key fob, is much cheaper and easier than if you lose your key and don’t have a working key fob.

So once we arrived on site we had to connect the coding machine to the OBD, then to get the unique PIN code for this specific car. This is a security measure that only authorized locksmiths can get (or dealership of course) and its being obtained by the VIN after verification of the owner.

Once we had the unique PIN, we insert it into the coding machine and continued with the procedure of tapping the new key within 5 seconds on the start button.

Then, after coding the first key, the system asked us if we wanted to program an additional key fob, which we of course said yes, and we did the same procedure again. Within 5 seconds of entering learning more, we tapped with the 2nd key fob on the start button, and then it was coded successfully.

At the end of the video you can see that we checked both key fobs to make sure they work fine.

The process was relatively fast because the customer already had a working key fob for his Kia Niro.

We highly recommend that if you have only 1 working key, contact the locksmith or dealer asap so they can program you an additional key.
