In this job our locksmith had to program a new key fob for a 2020 Ford Expedition. The process was done on site at the customer’s location. Keep in mind that in this situation, where we already have a working key the process is faster and easier and cheaper. (Because we just need to add a key)

Here is what you need to know to program a 2020 Ford Expedition key fob: (its also relevant for most Ford key fobs models)

1. Connect your coding machine into the car’s OBD
2. Choose the “add Key” option for a new key fob
3. Place the new key in the cup holder, the one closest to the radio. The reason is because this is where the chip reader is located and then the car can learn the new key fob.
4. Once you see the “reading data” sign it means the car is getting the information its needed to add the new key.
5. You should wait 10 minutes or so and the key should be coded.
