Lexus HS250 Key Fob Coding

In this job one of our locksmith had to program new keys for a 2010 Lexus HS250. All Lexus key fob must be coded to start the car with a special machine.

Here is what you need to know to program a Lexus HS250 key fob:

  1. Connect your coding machine into the car’s OBD
  2. Choose the “Smart Key” option for a new key fob or “Blade key” for a transponder key.
  3. Then choose “control unit” option
  4. Then “CAN”
  5. Now you have a few options:
    A. “Erase smart key”  – Choose this if you want to remove a key from the system.
  6. “Smart box reset” – Choose this if you want to add new keys and to make sure the old keys don’t work for some reason such as if you think someone stole your keys. (This is the most common option to choose)
  7. This process takes about 16 minutes. Make sure the hazard lights are on and that the driver side door remains open.

In the video below you can see how its actually done.

Remember, this is a must procedure for all Lexus key fobs and transponder keys.

Finally, in the video you can see how to start your Lexus in case the battery died in the key fob.
