How to start GMC Acadia with a dead key fob battery
In this job, we had to program new a key fob for a 2023 GMC Acadia.
The customer called because he lost his only key fob and the car was parked in his garage without being able to drive it.
The locksmith arrived on site and programmed an new key fob for him. As you can see in the photos and video, there is a specific slot under the arms rest which you have to put the new key fob to be programmed.
This slot is very important for you to know about because this is also where you should put your key fob in case the battery died and you cant start your car and drive.
Usually there is a rubber mat above it so don’t forget to take it off as well.
Once you put the key fob there, you will be able to start your car as usual because it can read the chip manually.
As always, we would recommend to replace the key fob battery ASAP and keep a spare one in the car just in case.
This is also a good chance for you to verify that the emergency key is cut so you can unlock your car if the key fob battery is dead.
