All You Need to Know about Car Keys, Programming and more

Our Work

Hyundai Sonata key fob coding

In this job one of our locksmiths had to program a new key fob for 2019 Hyundai Sonata.

The customer lost all her keys and didn’t know who has them so we used the “All keys lost” option which erases all previous key so they wont work again in case someone is trying to use them.

As you can see at the beginning of the video, we first had to extract the unique PIN code of the vehicle so we can program the car.

Of course, this PIN code is unique to this specific vehicle and must be obtained with a special machine to prevent theft situation.

Once we retrieved the PIN code (which we aren’t going to show you because of Safety and security reasons) we can proceed with the coding procedure.

So here is the step by step how to program Hyundai Sonata key fobs:

  1. Choose the type of coding procedure you want (Erase all keys or add new keys)
  2. Insert the unique PIN code
  3. Choose – Program Prox keys
  4. Here you will get a message that all old and new keys should be programmed together, so make sure you have all keys with you.
  5. Make sure ignition is turned off and there is no light there
  6. Open and close the driver side door
  7. Within 5 seconds you will have to tap the new key fob on the push to start button
  8. You will get a message that key was successfully programmed
  9. The system will ask if you want to program an additional key, choose yes or no.
  10. Check the new key fob
  11. All set – procedure complete.

This key was for a 2019 Hyundai Sonata but the procedure is basically the same for all Hyundai key fobs.
